COFFEE?

This is somewhere between mini key rings and those stupid rubber bracelets in the shape of a camera zoom ring or whatever they are, but I really want this.

EVER EVOLVING

Maybe it's just me and my obsession for calendars, but this is amazing.

"Calendar using the capillary action of the ink on the paper.

“Ink Calendar” make use the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper to indicate time.
The ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are “printed” daily. One a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. A calendar self-updated, which enhances the perception of time passing and not only signaling it.
The ink colors are based on a spectrum, which relate to a “color temperature scale”, each month having a color related to our perception of the whether on that month. The colors range from dark blue in December to, three shades of green in spring or oranges, red in the summer.
The scale for measuring the “color temperature” that I have used is a standard called ‘D65’ and corresponds roughly to a midday sun in Western / Northern Europe.
The “Ink Calendar” was developed for “Gradual “, an exhibition featuring works, which were evolving during the exhibition time at the London Design Festival 2007"

MARIAN BANTJES

I have decided to start doing a feature every friday on a designer. This week is one of my favourite designers Marian Bantjes.
She started off as a book typesetter in 1984 and opened her own design firm in 1994. Then in 2003 she decided to do work that was much more personal. She is known for her detailed and precise vector art, her obsessive hand work, her patterning and ornament. Often hired to create custom type for magazines, advertising and special projects. Her clients: Saks Fifth Avenue, Penguin Books, GRANTA, Wallpaper*, The Guardian, WIRED, Stefan Sagmeister, Winterhouse (Bill Drenttel & Jessica Helfand), Maharam, Ogilvy & Mather Chicago, Young & Rubicam Chicago, Random House, Houghton Mifflin, Print Magazine, GQ Italia, and The New York Times, among others from Europe, Australia and South America.
Pretty impressive.

CARGO

The interior architecture of an office building in Geneva.
Old and disused cargo containers are stacked one upon the other in order to provide some silent work and conference spaces within a busy open-plan work space.

HEX

I actually really like this idea, I think it's a great concept especially after seeing the size of the 6gen nano and thinking how stupid it was. Now I want one so I can have this watch.

CARSON

David Carson makes a come back working on LWL and HUCK magazine covers.
I wouldn't consider these two to be linked through the cover design, rather more the use of Carson as a figure himself. Last year Geoff McFetridge made a much better job of it.

TOILET PAPER

Introducing TOILET PAPER magazine directed by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari.
“There is no theme but a sort of mood. Some of the pictures are more durable than others. But, you know, that’s the story of any magazine.”
